Sellers Guide

Putting your home up for sale is a big change. These helpful tips will make the process as smooth and stress-free as possible:

Work With a Realtor

Selling your home with a professional can make all the difference. Our Lafayette Regional Association of Realtors® have in-depth knowledge of your specific market and a network of trusted partners in the industry. A Realtor® can tell you about comparable home prices, how long they stay on the market, and the best times to sell.

Set Your Price

Determining the magic number for your home at the start is essential. Your Realtor will research comparable house sales and assess your house’s condition to find the best listing price.

Think Like a Buyer

Look at your property through the eyes of a potential buyer. Does it have curb appeal? Does the paint need an update? Ask friends to tour your home and give you a fresh opinion! Your agent will also have plenty of advice aimed to help you get your home ready for the market.

Get Rid of Clutter

People need to be able to imagine themselves living in your space. Take this opportunity to clear out junk and pack away small personal items like photographs. A neutral space will make it easy for potential buyers to use their imagination.

Set the Stage

Think about how the spaces in your home will most likely be used. If you’ve converted that extra bedroom into an office, consider adding an inexpensive inflatable mattress made up as a bed. This will make it easy for prospective buyers to visualize it as a bedroom.

Be Open

Have a realistic talk with your Realtor before your listing goes live. How much advance time do you need before showings? Can you set aside time to be out of the house?

To sell your home as quickly as possible, you need to be willing to have some flexibility.

Consider Your Pets

It’s important to make arrangements for your pets during showings and Open Houses.  To minimize any danger or stress for your pets, take them with you or keep them in a designated area of the house.

Keep A Support System

Your Realtor has gone through this before and is here to help. At LRAOR, we promise to be with you every step of the way, from when the listing goes live to the closing date.

Follow these steps to enjoy a smooth and seamless sale!
