In 2012, IAR attorneys Richelle Cohen Mossler and Kelly Shonborn received 5,801 different legal inquiries from managing broker members, and their designated agents, around the state. With typical attorney fees in excess of $200 per hour, the Indiana Association of Realtors Legal Hotline represents one of the most meaningful and money-saving member benefits: $225/hour x 2 calls/hour = $652,500 in savings!

Who can use the Legal Hotline?

Managing Brokers may give their authorization for any of their licensees to call the Legal Hotline by completing and submitting the authorization form. After this initial authorization, if you wish to make changes, you may do so at any time using the authorized user update.

There are two ways to reach the Legal Hotline:
  • Phone: Calls are answered during normal office hours, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Calls are taken in the order they are received. If the Legal Hotline attorney is assisting another caller, leave a message and your call will be returned within 24 hours, usually during the same day. Call 800-444-5472 (toll free).
  • Online: Complete this online form. Inquiries submitted online are returned via telephone during normal office hours, Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
