Delphi, the county seat of Carroll County, is located 20 minutes northeast of Lafayette. Platted in 1828, Delphi took its name from the ancient Greek city and is known as the home of the Wabash and Erie Canal. Although larger in population than Brookston, with about 3,000 people calling the city home, it’s considerably more of a farming community. Delphi features excellent schools and safe neighborhoods along with six city parks, 10 miles of trails, and a downtown where you’ll often find members of the Old Ordered German Baptist Brethren selling vegetables from their wagons. This sleepy small town is also heaven for lovers of pork products – its annual Bacon Festival offers music, family activities, bacon tastings, and a bacon-eating contest.
The most affordable of these communities for homeowners, Delphi offers a nice mix of housing options ranging from 200-year-old home to modern construction and new subdivisions.
